A Cold Beach and A Dusty RV Park

Hello, it is September 1st. I apparently suck at updating blog posts, but it’s all good. I am pretty sure I left you in Olympia. At this point in time I am in Oregon, close to Crater Lake, which is gorgeous by the way. After leaving Olympia, we went to Long Beach, WA. I was excited as we were going to be at a beach, but sadly I was freezing the whole time. The beach was really cool, and people even drove on it. I don’t know if it was a good idea that they did due to the fact that many people got stuck. There were also many kites on the beach. On two different days we went into Astoria, OR.  For those of you who don’t know that is where they filmed The Goonies, my dad and my favorite movie. We enjoyed the town even with all of its greyness. One day in Long Beach we rode our bikes a total of 12 miles on a path to a lighthouse in the Cape of Disappointment. Another night my parents’ friend, Luke, came to say hello.

After our stay in Long Beach, we went to Portland for a couple of days. Our first day in Portland was spent in the Rose and Japanese gardens, and at the Portland Zoo. The gardens were exquisite and my mom and I thoroughly enjoyed them. I loved the Bonsai trees. The Portland Zoo was also fun, and we laughed at the fact that the first couple of animals we saw, we had seen in the wild. Such as the Mountain Goat and the Black Bear. Eleanor really loved the Zoo because they had a great elephant section. Elephants are her favorite animal. Our second day in Portland, we went to Powell’s book store. It is ginormous. All of us, except Oliver, got a book. I, personally, got two poetry books. We also ate at Little, Big Burger for the first time, and it was delicious. The third day of Portland was spent roaming around.

A little while ago, while we were in La Push, I painted a ton of rocks. While in Portland, I started leaving them places. On the back of my rocks I wrote greatgobblegetaway.com. So if you found one of my rocks and decided to look up the website, Hello!

We then left Portland to head towards Crater Lake. Let me just say, Crater Lake is gorgeous. We fully got to experience it because we went on a boat/ hike tour. The water is insanely clear, and we even got to drink out of it. Crater Lake is the deepest lake in our country. During our boat/ hike day we climbed a volcano, and a caldera. I was exhausted afterwards, but I am so glad we went on it because it is an experience I will never forget.

We also spent some time in Bend, OR where we saw Kaycee, my parents friend from high school. She is an amazing artist, and a really fun person. We had ramen and went on a stroll with her. Bend was also very smokey while we were there.

Hope you enjoyed this weeks segment of Isabell tells you random things about her life.
