Novaturient

Novaturient is the desire to alter one’s life.

Last spring, my family and I started discussing a life changing decision. We realized that life was too busy, and we were stuck in a sea of schedules. My dad had left his job, unhappy with not being able to spend enough time with us kids and wanting to go in a different direction. My siblings and I were very happy when our parents told us of his plan. We were glad we got to see our dad all of the time. Once he was home he started helping with our everyday life. This was great, and we were happy with how life was going. ( even if we did get stressed out sometimes ) One day, after reading a book about a family who packed up all of their things and took their children to travel the world, my mom mentioned to my dad how cool that would be. She would then find him randomly researching the idea. They then brought it up to us kids. For a little while it went on as a joke. Then we started talking about it more and more. My mom then said that the world seemed like a lot, what about the country? We started talking constantly about this grand idea, having many long serious talks about what leaving would mean. I personally thought about 24/7. How cool it would be? Would I really leave the life I am currently living behind? I think, yes.

In June, last year, we went on a camping trip to Mammoth Cave National Park. We had not really talked about our idea in a couple of weeks. While we were on this long hike to a really cool graveyard, I said, “Okay! I say we decide right now. Are we doing this or no?” My family kind of looked at each other before agreeing. And we were off!! The decision had been made! Although we were very excited the rest of that camping trip, we had no idea what was to come. After that trip our lives became chaos. We were working on all of the preparations for our trip while balancing our already hectic life as well. We started to tell a select few about the change that was happening in our life. Eventually it was time to tell the grandparents, which we were very nervous about considering we lived next door to one pair of them. They all took it pretty well, which we were very happy about. So yeah, lots of preparations blah blah blah. Don’t want to bore you with the details too much. I’ll be surprised if you’ve even made it this far. So fast forward to May 2018. MAY. WAS. CRAZY. We made it through though! We finished up everything including; dance recitals, soccer, selling the house, saying all of the goodbyes, moving out of our house, and getting the RV ready to roll. I even drove for the first time! Then came the day, June 5th, 2018. We pulled out of the driveway a little before 8 am, and here I am a few days later, after taking a long while trying to figure out how to work this blog thing. I really hope it works…..   Anyway, thanks for reading!!! Stay tuned for updates!!
