Benny and Joon

I Got Two Questions For You.

Do you like to party?

And who wants to party?

I have not put out a blog post in two weeks and one day. I apologize for that, as I have been lazy and unproductive in being a responsible teenager. I even lost my permit this week and I have yet to find it. I am pretty upset about this, and I hope I will find it soon. I also hope that we did not accidentally throw it in the trash. Since my last blog post, we have been pretty productive ish. We left Glacier on Wednesday the 25th. Before we left, Say Say, or as most of you know her, Sarah Gilliam, stayed with us for three nights. She slept in my bunk with me. Hopefully I didn’t annoy her too much. The first full day she spent with us we went on a 5-mile hike. On this hike we forgot bug spray, most of our waters, and Say Say’s camera. We were a big mess, but it all turned out okay because the hike was awesome. At the end of it you get to see a beautiful glacier-made lake with waterfalls around it. We also saw a couple of chipmunks, which are my favorite. After the hike, I drove Say Say and I to pick up pizza and ice cream. (that was the last time I saw my permit)

The next day, we went and drove the Going to the Sun Road again. Say Say and my mom were, of course, terrified, but they loved the views anyway. While on the Going to the Sun Road, we stopped at this bridge and took pictures and such. Once we got to Logan Pass we decided to walk the, what we thought was little, boardwalk behind the Visitor’s Center. The walk ended up being a long one that passed through a couple of snow banks. We were all wearing Chacos because we planned to go kayaking later that day. The almost frostbite was worth it though, because we ended up seeing a Grizzly Bear and a herd of Big Horned Sheep, whom we thought didn’t exist because we had yet to see any. After heading back down the Going to the Sun Road, we stopped at Lake McDonald to rent kayaks. It was a fairly windy day that day, but we didn’t think much about it. We should have thought about it. Going out was fine, a grand ole time I could say. Coming back was hell. By the end of it I had a blister and I was soaking wet. My arms were also very tired. Say Say was in the boat with me and we got some good pictures for that Ted’s contest you all are having in Columbia. She also took some of me that were pretty good. After that tireless kayak trip we thought we deserved a burger, so that is what we got. Say Say, sadly, had to leave the next day. We also moved over to East Glacier that day. All we did in East Glacier is eat at a casino at the Reservation we were staying on, and go to Two Medicine.  While in Two Medicine we climbed a waterfall. We left the Blackfeet Reservation on Tuesday, and headed to Spokane, WA.

We spent our Wednesday in the city of Spokane. We ate breakfast at a nice brunch place called Bene’s. We then, for the rest of the day, ran errands. We went to REI, two other sporting goods stores, White’s Boot Shop, Mark’s Music store (where I got a Ukulele), A couple of Thrift stores (at one store I got a pair of really nice Doc Martin’s for 12 bucks), a bookstore, and we even ate at the diner from Benny and Joon. If you don’t know what that is, it is a Johnny Depp movie. We also went to Hobby Lobby to get paints so that we can paint rocks to leave different places.

I was very excited because, that night, one of my favorite bands saw my story on Instagram.

On Thursday, we moved on to a brief stay in this other town that I cannot remember the name of. From our campsite we could drive about 30 mins one way to go see Mt. St Helens, and 30 mins the other direction to see Mt. Rainer. We actually did both, and it was pretty interesting. Not much happened while we were there, unless you count that we made s’mores one night. Today is Saturday the 29th, and I am typing this while bouncing around in the backseat of our truck because the road is very bumpy. We just got our first glimpse at the Pacific Ocean. We are staying on the Olympic peninsula until Wednesday of next week. I am extremely tired right now, and I am regretting getting a chocolate milk instead of a coffee drink this morning. Anyway, fun fact, we are actually staying close to Forks, WA while on the peninsula, and if you don’t know why that is significant, it is where Twilight is set and filmed. My mom says we need to watch all of the movies while we are here, but we’ll see if we actually do or not.

Metanoia- (n.) the journey of changing one’s mind, heart, self, or way of life.

Update: It is now August 2nd. At our last campsite I had zero service. My mom found my permit under my bed, and La Push, WA was very fun.
